Salary: R30k neg

PROCUREMENT OFFICER / BUYER 

SHIPMENTS / IMPORT AND EXPORT

 

The main objective of this position is:

 Research, evaluate and purchase services, supplies and equipment based on price, service, quality and warranty.

  • To handle all export and import shipments based on operational demands.
  • Review current procurement systems and procedures, making recommendations and implement changes.

 The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • To manage and lead all procurement functions to meet business demands
  • Source suitable suppliers, complete credit applications and create supplier accounts on the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
  • Initiate and oversee the supplier tendering process and evaluate tenders on an annual basis
  • Select, evaluate and screen preferred suppliers on consumable items and PPE
  • Review and negotiate supplier terms, pricing and deliverables
  • Evaluate suppliers on deliverables
  • Procure specialized items based on project timelines
  • Generate and approve purchase requests and orders for procurement items required
  • Ensure that purchase order requirements are submitted to the relevant suppliers
  • Process supplier delivery receipts
  • Monthly invoicing, annual review and calculation of fixed Plant charges to be recovered
  • Request and maintain BEE Certificates from suppliers
  • Identify suitable suppliers for Supplier development
  • Obtain pricing for import/export transport
  • Ensure delivery vehicles and/ or shipping vessels are booked timeously to meet shipment deadlines
  • Manage and lead all custom inspection requirements on import and export shipments and ensure progress tracking
  • Communicate shipment requirements and deadlines to all parties involved
  • Draft commercial invoice and relevant export documentation
  • Maintain and distribute import and export tracking schedule
  • Ensure all legal requirements are met both in SA and destination country.

Key Requirements

6 – 8 years experience in a Procurement Management role

Grade 12

Supply Chain Management diploma or similar qualification

Procurement Management Diploma or similar qualification

International trade qualification or training course completed (Import and Exports)
